ULTRŌ, a SANITY agency
Sanity is a content management solution that allows businesses to create, manage, and distribute content across websites, applications, and other digital platforms. Sanity is a headless CMS, just like Contentful or Storyblok, other high-performance solutions with which we partner.
What’s the difference between a "headless" CMS like Sanity and other solutions like WordPress or Drupal?
Unlike traditional CMS platforms like WordPress or Drupal, which combine both content management (back-end) and user interface (front-end) within the same platform, a headless CMS focuses solely on content management and leaves the display to be handled by other technologies or tools. Content is stored and managed within the CMS but is not tied directly to any presentation model. This allows the content to be distributed across various channels (website, mobile app, IoT, etc.) without being locked into any specific format.
Sanity Studio: a sleek and incredibly effective interface
Sanity's user interface, Sanity Studio, is fully customizable, allowing for the creation of an intuitive management environment without being forced to use a predefined structure or terminology imposed by the editor, as is the case with Drupal or WordPress. Contributors or administrators only see the controls and information they truly need.
The preview feature ("preview" in Sanity’s terminology) allows users to see changes before publishing them. This preview has no cache: when a contributor edits content, they simply click the refresh button in the preview to instantly view the changes. Unlike many similar tools, Sanity also allows for content changes to be previewed in all languages enabled on the site.
Sanity, one of the few CMSs that doesn’t index its pricing based on content types
No limits on the number of content types
Many SaaS-based CMSs now offer pricing based on the number of "content types." The concept of a content type can be defined as the categorization of the different forms that content on a website can take. It can be text data, images, videos, numerical features, etc. Each content type has a specific format and serves a particular purpose. Sanity is one of the few CMSs that does not impose any limits on the number of content types.
No limits on the number of language versions
The number of locales (languages/countries) is another lever that CMS providers use to encourage customers to purchase more expensive subscriptions. This is not the case with Sanity, which does not limit the number of locales.
Sanity & Shopify Synchronization
Thanks to robust and powerful APIs, it is easy to integrate Sanity with many different systems. The Sanity + Shopify integration is a perfect example. Sanity Connect for Shopify allows for the synchronization of product data, variants, and collections between Shopify and Sanity. Specifically, when you create a product or a collection in Shopify, it is automatically created in Sanity as well. This means there’s no need to create the product in both platforms.
In most of our headless projects (such as for Mira-Luna or Les Bougies de Charroux), we manage rich product pages that require content to be entered both in Shopify (for e-commerce data) and in Sanity (for rich editorial data). This connection between Sanity and Shopify is a huge time-saver.
The icing on the cake: data synchronization between Shopify and Sanity happens continuously. If a piece of content is deleted in Shopify, it will also be automatically deleted in Sanity.
